The Municipality of Argyle will benefit from trail upgrades to help bring people back to public spaces safely

La municipalité d’Argyle bénéficiera d’améliorations à son sentier afin de ramener les gens dans leurs espaces publics en toute sécurité

"Today, the Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA, announced an investment of $125,000 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF) to the Municipality of Argyle and the Yarmouth County Trail Development Association.

The Municipality of Argyle and the Yarmouth County Trail Development Association will work together to purchase and apply gravel to a 10-kilometre stretch of the Trans Canada Trail from Lower East Pubnico to Pubnico Head.

This part of the trail system is popular among community members as it provides accessible outdoor space for people of all ages and mobility levels to walk, run, cycle, and more. The project will make this trail section safer and join it to other links going north to Yarmouth and to south Shelburne."

La municipalité d’Argyle et la Yarmouth County Trail Development Association travailleront ensemble pour acheter et appliquer du gravier sur un tronçon de dix kilomètres du Sentier transcanadien, de Lower East Pubnico à Pubnico Head.

Cette partie du réseau de sentiers est populaire auprès des membres de la collectivité, car elle offre un espace extérieur accessible auxpersonnes de tous âges et de tous niveaux de mobilité pour marcher, courir, faire du vélo, etc. Le projet rendra ce tronçon de sentier plus sûr et le reliera à d’autres liaisons allant vers le nord jusqu’à Yarmouth et vers le sud jusqu’à Shelburne."

Council Approves Argyle Accessibility Plan

The Municipality of the District of Argyle is excited to announce the approval of their "Access by Design" Accessibility Plan.

The Plan was developed by members of the Argyle Accessibility Advisory Committee and provides Council with a vision and direction in becoming a place to live where programs, services and facilities are barrier-free by 2030, where possible, in accordance to the Nova Scotia Accessibility Act.

This committee was composed of a member of the municipal council, municipal staff and members of the public, half of which have a disability.

The mandate of this committee was to " ...provide advice to Council on identifying, preventing, and eliminating of barriers to people with disabilities in municipal programs, services, initiatives and facilities.”

We are proud and excited to begin this work.
