Tax Rates and Area Rates
The Municipality of Argyle sends property tax bills to all property owners once a year. Tax bills are sent out the first week in June and are due July 31. The interest rate is calculated at 1.0834% at the end of each month thereafter.
- 2024/25 Residential tax rate is $1.11 per $100 of assessed value
- 2024/25 Commercial tax rate is $2.29 per $100 of assessed value
Additional to the above tax rate, is the area rate.
The following communities have an area rate for 2024/2025 as follows:
- West Pubnico, Pubnico Head, Lr Argyle: .09/$100 of assessment
- Wedgeport and District: .07/$100 of assessment
- SAR/Eel Brook: .125/$100 of assessment
- East Pubnico: .050/$100 of assessment
- East Kemptville: .030/$100 of assessment
- Quinan and District: .10/$100 of assessment
- Lake Vaughan: .050/$100 of assessment
- Islands and District: .08/$100 of assessment
The tax calculation is based on the assessed value of the property multiplied by the applicable tax rate and the applicable area rate.
Example of Residential Tax Calculation for 2024/2025
Assessed Value of Property located in Wedgeport: $75,500
$1.11 x $75,500/100 = $ 838.05 Residential Taxes
$0.07 x $75,500/100 = $ 52.85 Wedgeport area rate
Total Taxes = $ 890.90
Sewer Rates
West Pubnico – Billing Information
The West Pubnico Wastewater System is billed annually with the tax invoice. The annual 2024/2025 operation fee is $440.00 per unit. With the upgrade to the system in 2011, users had a choice of paying the capital fee of $1,900 in full or paying a yearly fee ending in 2022/2023.
Tusket – Billing Information
The Tusket Wastewater System is billed annually with the tax invoice. The annual 2024/2025 operation fee is $355. per unit. The Tusket Wastewater System was built in 2005. Users had a choice of paying the capital fee of $2,500 in full or paying a yearly fee for 20 years. The yearly capital fee for 2024/2025 is $252.00
Wedgeport – Billing Information
The Wedgeport system is billed annually with the tax invoice. The annual 2024/2025 operation fee is $175.00 per unit. Users had a choice of paying the capital fee in full or paying a yearly fee for 10 years. The yearly capital fee is $550.98.
