The Yarmouth County Outdoor Fun Map is your guide to exploring more than 100 parks, trails, beaches, and recreation spaces across the region. Whether you’re planning a family outing, heading out on your own, or just looking to enjoy some fresh air, the map helps you find great spots nearby.

The map is live and easy to use. Click on any location to learn more, or use the legend to filter by category and find exactly what you’re in the mood for. From playgrounds and green spaces to kayak launches and scenic coastal views, there’s something for everyone.

This resource is built for all ages and interests—families, youth, visitors, and locals alike. There’s no right way to use it. Just pick a place and go explore.

Accessibility

We want everyone to feel welcome and able to enjoy outdoor spaces across Yarmouth County.

Many locations on the map include accessibility features such as paved or well-maintained trails, accessible parking, and inclusive playgrounds. Where available, these details are included in each location’s description.

Accessibility equipment is also available for loan within Yarmouth County. This includes Hippocampe all-terrain wheelchairs for trails and beach wheelchairs designed to improve access to shorelines and water. These resources can help make more spaces accessible to more people.

Outdoor conditions can vary depending on weather and seasons, so it’s always a good idea to plan ahead based on your needs.

Active Living focuses on creating and supporting opportunities for people, groups, and organizations to become more physically active. Active Transportation plays a major role in active living. Biking, walking, the use of our trails system is one way of increasing our physical activity and using our natural resources. Canoeing and Kayaking are also forms of active transportation.

The Municipality of Argyle’s Active Living focus is to increase the levels of physical activity of the residents of the Municipality by building active communities. The Physical Activity Coordinator will support and foster, leadership development, physical activity programs, indoor and outdoor facilities as well as promote Active Transportation.

Mission “Create environments, policies, and programs that support residents in making healthy lifestyle changes.”

55+ Programs

The Argyle Recreation department provides recreational and other related programs and services which meet the community's needs, with special consideration for seniors. The Argyle Recreation Department has conducted a needs assessment with the senior groups and will be developing new programs and events based on the response to the survey.

Argyle Minor Baseball

Argyle Recreation offers a minor baseball program for ages 5 to 15, which includes the following divisions.

  • U7 – Ball School – (No games) Coaches will work on basic baseball fundamentals. Usually, one practice a week for 45 minutes
  • U9 – Rookie Ball - One practice or game per week. Teams will be using pitching machines to play games
  • U11- Mosquito – One practice or game per week
  • U13 – Peewee – One or two practice(s)/game(s)per week
  • U15 – Bantam – One or two game(s) or practice(s) per week (This division uses wooden bats)

The registration cost will vary for each division. Players are asked to bring their own helmet, glove and cleats. However, many at the higher level bring their own bat. Teams may travel from Shelburne to Yarmouth to Weymouth to play games. It will all depend on how many are teams are in each minor baseball associations

Argyle Minor baseball is always recruiting for coaches and umpires so if you are interested, please contact the Argyle Recreation at 902-648-3379.

Summer Day Camps

boy climbingThe Municipality of Argyle Recreation Department strives to provide a safe, fun and quality program that involves a balance of activities that suit the participants’ ages, interests and abilities. The Recreation Department is committed to offering each camper a safe and fun summer experience. Day Camp provides the opportunity for campers to laugh, learn, form new friendships and create memories that last a lifetime!

2022 Day Camp locations are:

  1. Plymouth School
  2. École Pubnico-Ouest
  3. École secondaire de Par-en-Bas
  • The cost is $20 per day per child.
  • Hours of operation are 8:00 am to 5:30 pm.
  • Registration is on a daily basis. Registrations are accepted at the Day Camp location or at the Recreation Department. If someone wishes to register for more than one day at a time, that is ok, however, there is a NO refund policy.
  • Day Camp Newsletters are created for each camp indicating what the theme of the day is. This allows children to decide whether the day may be of interest to them.
  • Income tax receipts are provided upon request from the Recreation Department.
