Living in the Municipality of Argyle means rural living that offers wide-open natural spaces, safe and quiet communities in a vibrant and culturally rich area. Our Property Inspection department is working actively with residents, Waste Check staff, the SPCA, and the rural RCMP office with the goal of maintaining peace and quiet neighbourhoods for everyone to enjoy. The main objective for the department is to focus primarily on Dangerous & Unsightly properties, Noise By-Law infractions, Waste Management issues, and Animal compliance.

Our processes are mainly governed by the Municipal Government Act under Section 15 of the Act and our own Dangerous and Unsightly Policy. Besides these guiding documents and our local By-Laws, it is our goal to provide a fair, accurate, and compassionate enforcement process considering individual situations and sometimes limitations.

If you have any concerns regarding our By-Laws or would like to report a dangerous situation that is posing a risk to the public feel free to reach out to your local councillor or our Special Constable at 902-648-2623 or via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. We are respecting everyone’s privacy and ownership rights and would like to remind you that some processes might take more time than others and we are committed to complete individual cases in light of peaceful resolutions and neighbours helping neighbours.

Illegal Garbage Dumping or Burning

When irresponsible people choose to dump their waste where it doesn't belong, everyone's quality of life is affected.

Children and wildlife may be harmed and rats and mosquitoes may be attracted. The trash in the woods and on the beach spoils recreational experiences. These are just some of the negative effects that have resulted from illegal garbage dumps in our municipality.

Illegal dumping or garbage burning is a serious offence.

Don't let illegal garbage dumping or burning compromise your quality of life! If you see someone dumping or burning garbage where it doesn't belong, please let us know immediately by calling (902) 648-2623 or send a recording to This email address is being protected from spambots.
