2019 Photo Project / Contest

We truly feel that Argyle is a great place to live, work, explore and play and we would like to be able to showcase our region and lifestyle by using your great photos.

We are looking for scenic shots of as many communities as possible. These do not need to be natural scenery only; they can be of buildings, roads, boats, etc; however please refrain from taking pictures of peoples faces. For example, a person in a kayak, at a distance, would be acceptable.

If you are interested in entering our contest:

  • Please submit 3 digital or printed photos of your work by the deadline of August 2nd, 2019.
  • Digital entries can be submitted to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
  • Printed entries may be delivered to: Charlene LeBlanc, PO Box 10, 27 Courthouse Road B0W 3M0

If chosen for our project:

  • We would like to have at least 50 photos of yours to work with by mid October.
  • You will have to label each photo by community, and if necessary, by what is actually in the photo (if it is not entirely evident).
  • If you have any winter shots in your collection that you would also like to submit, we would be glad to use them.

Winning photos will be used for marketing purposes on our website (www.munargyle.com), social media, as well as any print publications that we produce (such as brochures, and signs), and will become the property of the municipality.

If you are the chosen photographer, and you accept to do this work for us, we will pay you $500 up front and $500 upon completion of the project.

The region of Southwest Nova Scotia to host the Congrès mondial acadien 2024

ATLANTIC CANADA – Sunday, May 26, 2019 – The Congrès mondial acadien 2024 (CMA2024) will be held in Nova Scotia. The members of la Société Nationale de l’Acadie (SNA) Board of Directors decided on the bid put forward by Clare and Argyle to host this major quinquennial event.

The announcement was made on Sunday at the head office of the national Acadian body in Moncton, New Brunswick.

“The municipalities of Clare and Argyle showed us an Acadie that is dynamic, proud and overflowing with ideas. We are confident that the organization of the CMA 2024 is in good hands,” said Louise Imbeault, President of the SNA.
