We need your help!! We are planning once again for the 42nd Annual Yarmouth County Athletic Awards Ceremony.

Can you please let us know about any teams/individuals that have won at Provincials or Higher in the past year? Criteria attached.

We are also looking for nominations for Special Awards:

  • Male & Female Athlete of the Year
  • Male & Female Youth Athlete of the Year
  • Male & Female Coach of the year
  • Male & Female Official of the Year
  • Male & Female Fair Play Award
  • Male & Female Volunteer of the Year

42nd Annual Yarmouth County Athletic Awards Ceremony, is Friday, November 30th, 7:00pm, at Ecole Secondaire de Par en Bas.

Each year since 1976, coaches, athletes, sport volunteers and officials have been recognized for their outstanding achievements at our annual Yarmouth County Athletic Awards. Yarmouth County athletes, volunteers, coaches, officials and teams that have attained a provincial title in a sport or who have distinguished themselves in a specific sport at the University, College, Atlantic, or National level.

EMO Argyle: Help For Argyle Residents Facing Water Issues

With still no sign of heavy precipitation in the forecast, EMO Argyle is reminding residents to keep an eye on their neighbors, especially those living alone or most vulnerable, and will be assisting residents with resources and options for those that are significantly affected.

EMO Argyle will be providing the following assistance: 


Drinking Water

The Municipality has a supply of 4L jugs of drinking water to be given to residents. There is a 16L limit per household per pickup. Pick up locations are as follows:

  • Wedgeport Fire Hall (open Monday & Thursday 1:00 - 4:00 PM; Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:30 PM)
  • West Pubnico Fire Hall – West Pubnico (open Monday to Friday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 10 am – 12pm)
  • East Pubnico Fire Hall – East Pubnico (open Monday and Thursday – 6 to 8 pm)
  • Quinan Fire Hall – Quinan (Tuesday and Thursday - 6 to 8pm)
  • Eel-Brook Service Centre – Eel-Brook (when store is open)
  • Surette’s Island Fire Hall – Surette’s Island (open Monday, Wednesday and Friday – 2 to 7 pm)
  • Kemptville Fire Hall – Kemptville (open Monday and Thursday, 6 – 8 pm)
  • Amirault’s Hill/Hubbards Fire Hall – Amirault’s Hill (open Monday to Friday, 2 pm – 6 pm)

Please note that residents will be required to give their name, phone number and civic address before receiving the water.

Water Sources

Non-drinking water is now available to the public to fill small or large containers at the following locations:

  • Wedgeport Legion, 24 Corporon Rd, Wedgeport
  • East Pubnico Fire Hall, 33 Willet Rd, Middle East Pubnico
  • Mariners Centre (Back of Centre), 45 Jody Shelley Dr, Yarmouth
  • Former Arcadia School, 10177 Highway 3, Arcadia

More water sources may be established and as details are confirmed, the public will be notified.

Water Delivery

Through its Public Works Department, the Municipality will take requests for water delivery for those with mobility, transportation or medical issues. Those that require this service can call (902) 648-2623 or request the service through Homecare or the Senior Safety Coordinator.

Showers

  • STARTING SEPTEMBER 10, 2018: West Pubnico School, civic # 811 Route 335, West Pubnico.
    • Monday to Friday (2pm to 7pm) / Saturday & Sunday (9am to 9pm)
  • Showers are available at the Mariners Centre. Please check their Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/marinerscentre/) for latest times / days.

Compiling List of Those with Issues

The Municipality urges its residents to continue updating them on their situation so that they can get a clear picture of how many are affected by this dry summer, and what further actions may need to be taken. They appreciate all those that have offered to help in any way possible and encourage everyone to do the same.

Well and Drinking Water Safety

If your well has run dry, there are a few things you need to know to ensure you have safe drinking water. During a water shortage, everyone should do his/her part to conserve water and ensure their drinking water and water in general is safe. Fall 2018 Special Garbage Pickup

Special garbage collection in the Municipality of Argyle will be carried out during October 18 - 20 & October 25 - 27 (on a different day than regularly scheduled garbage pick-up)

Roadside collection should not be set out earlier than seven (7) days prior to the special collection. Please have items out the day of your scheduled pick-up before 7 a.m.
